I’m
Dave Adams, and I’ve been a poker player for most of my life. I got an
early start in home games, playing any and every game imaginable. As an
adult, I moved into the world of casino poker. I’ve spent countless hours
playing in casinos from coast to coast. For three years of my life, I lived
as a professional poker player, deriving 90% of my income from playing
poker. However, playing poker is "a hard way to make an easy
living," so I decided to take up dealing instead. Now I work as a
dealer and floorman in a major strip casino in Las Vegas.
I’ve teamed up with Leslie Michaelis for
this
project. Leslie came from a family of gamesters and gamblers. She
started out as a player, just like many dealers do. Leslie’s been dealing
for the last seven years in private rooms and house games in Austin, Texas.
Now she’s going to break into casino dealing. She'll be submitting
articles about her job search and what finally happens to her career,
sharing her experiences during auditions, and giving her interpretation of
card rooms across the country. Keep watching as Leslie discloses all her
successes and failures in full detail.
Together, Leslie, Scott and I are designing
this site to be the best and most complete source of poker dealing
information on the web. Both experienced players and non-player novice
dealers will find the material invaluable. We’ll have the best source on
the web for rules of poker and definitions. A comprehensive listing and
description of the essential dealing skills will be provided. We’ll teach
you how to run a game, from the most basic procedures to the most advanced.
In addition, we’ll have interviews with both dealers and floorpersons,
novice and experienced, who’ll tell their stories of how they got into
poker, and what poker does for them. We’ll also have a section where
readers and forum members can post their stories.
