The Math Charts
The vast majority of instructors and table game supervisors in the industry agree that teaching the mathematics of roulette should entail learning the first 20 payoffs of each rate of return. That is how I was taught and most text books written on the subject Below are charts of the first twenty rates of return offered in roulette. The links in the upper left corner of this page (and on the bottom) will take you to some exercises in paying 35:1 and 17:1. All other payoffs you should be able to figure on your own, especially if you're a proficient dice dealer contemplating learning roulette. In the pages that follow we will use the 'first nine' with some examples................So there, now everyone should be happy.
Single Number (Straight)............................................35:1 Two Numbers (Split)...................................................17:1 Three Numbers (Street)..............................................11:1 Four Numbers (Corner)................................................8:1 Five Numbers..............................................................6:1 Six Numbers (Double Street)........................................5:1 Twelve Numbers (Dozens or Columns)...........................2:1 Eighteen Numbers (Black or Red, Odd or Even, First 18-Last 18)....1:1
